AND PLANS FOR LONG TRIPS!

Four Viper teams were in action this past weekend at Regional Silversticks tournaments with the hopes to move on to the International Finals!
The Midget 16A, 16AA, and Bantam AA teams travelled to Southern Maryland to compete in their respective age groups. The Bantam AA's started the tournament with a shutout of the EC Eagles in front of stellar goaltending. The next two games didn't fair so well for the Bantams as an offensive explosion from OYR Raiders in the third period handed them a loss in game two and the Montgomery Blue Devils ended any further travel hopes as they held off a late surge from the Vipers, who almost tied the game in the dying seconds. Overall the team played well and fell just short of advancing further in Silversticks.
The Midget 16A's started off their tournament with a huge statement, winning their first game in explosive fashion with a 10-3 trumping of the S. Jersey Bruin Squad. They continued the offense eeking out a win over the Baltimore Stars and finishing off the Howard Huskies to close round robin play. the Midgets moved on to the Semi-Finals to face the Montomery Blue Devils who ended their run with a tight 6-5 loss.
Midget 16AA's started their run with two close wins against two New Jersey foes in the Hollydell Hurricanes and NJ Jaguars 2-0 and 2-1 respectively. Their third round robin game resulted in a 2-2 tie against the Richmond Royals earning them a Semi-Final spot against a tough Greensboro squad. The 16AA Midgets battled hard and forced the game into a shootout at 4-4 where they were eventually knocked off with their first loss of the tournament, 5-4.
The Peewee A's looked to resurect their improving record riding a 3-3 league record in the last 6 games into the Silversticks tourney. However, they were matched up with tough round robin play in which they dropped three straight to the Quakers, Bowie Bruins, and Montgomery Blue Devils. They battled hard and the results from the tournament did not represent the effort the Peewees battled with. They look to take their next tournament in Pittsburgh during the month of January by storm!
Vipers Squirt A team looked to continue their winning ways in West Chester, PA going into the Silverstick tournament 15-3 overall. They handed three staight teams decisive losses winning by more than three goals in each of their round robin contests. They then shutout the Atlantic City Sharks 6-0 and beat the Red Bank Generals 7-1 to earn a birth in the Finals. Playing against the Valley Forge Colonials in their sixth game of the weekend, they held off Valley Forge and went on to win 5-3 and earn the Regional Silverstick Championship! The Squirt A squad will be heading to Sarnia, Ontario, Canada from January 20-22 to the International Championships!
The Bantam B squad also was in action this weekend with a second place finish in the Hershey Thanksgiving Tournament where the Squirt B's participated as well and, like our Peewee team, competed frivilously, but did not achieve the results they were looking for.
Congratulations to all the Viper teams who played this Holiday with passion and charisma! And good luck to the Squirt A squad as they will be representing Viper Nation north of the border in January!
