The Capital City Vipers PeeWee A team went 4 and 1 in the Hershey Thanksgiving Tournament and finished 2nd out of 14 teams in the bracket.
Our Vipers competed against four teams, not in the DVHL. The Vipers first game was against the Harford North Stars and got off to a great start with a win of 10-1. Later that day the Vipers were victors against the NJ Freeze with a score of 8-4. In the first 2 minutes, the Vipers were up 3-0 but settled into a close game as the Freeze closed within one goal until the Vipers pumped in a few goals in the third for the win.
The third game was at the Hersheypark Arena against the Igloo Jaguars. The Vipers played a close game for two periods until the Vipers opened it up in the third and won 5-1.
At the end of bracket play, the Vipers had 27 points and had the second seed. The semi-final game pitted the Vipers against the Long Island Royals. The Royals were a significantly bigger team, but the Vipers used their speed and passing to win in a nail-biter 2-1.
The showdown drew the York Devils. York was the top seed and cruised through their semi-final. The Vipers and Devils met each other two weeks ago in DVHL action with the Devils winning in a back and forth affair 6-3. For the tournament, the Vipers played fast and physical but just couldn't overcome the Devils play. The Vipers lost 6-0 and capped off an otherwise successful tournament. With each passing game, the competition got harder, and the Vipers play got better. The Pewee B championship didn’t turn out how the boys had hoped but second out of fourteen teams is a tournament to be proud of.
