Team of the Week Bantam Rec
The Vipers Bantam rec team is 15 players strong and consists of 14 young men and 1 young woman. Throughout this season this group of players has grown together as a team through hard work and their shared passion for hockey. The bantam weekly practice focuses on key hockey skills as well as offensive and defensive systems and tactics. The progress this team has shown is a testament of each player willing to learn and dedication to hard work. The Cap City Rec Bantam Team is anchored by the goaltending of Giordano. The tough play does not stop with the defensive squad of Lucas, Cruz, Miles and Forbes.
The combination of size and physicality keeps the opponents out of our house and keeps any rebounds to a minimum. The offensive lines are centered by a rotation of Malick, Anderson, Thompson and Zumbro. This unit supports well in the defensive zone and creates speed on the zone entry. Bantam wingers are strong on the forecheck and creating a net front presence for rebounds. The crew of wingers is a perfect combination of speed with Carrol, Fawber and Kautz blended with the physicality of Hill and Holley while Morrison rounds it out with her relentless forecheck and never back down attitude.
The Bantam team will be playing in the York Rec in House Tournament the end of this month and have high expectations. They will be working hard over the coming weeks to fine-tune their systems prior to this tournament. The Bantam Rec Coaching Staff of Flod, Ritter, Mehring, Erno and McMullen is impressed with the effort this group of players puts into each practice and game. Heather Miles is the team manager and has done an excellent job of handling the team communications as well as coordination of team lunches after games. Heather’s organization has been instrumental in creating the “Team” attitude in these players. As this season starts to wind down this Bantam team continues to have fun on and off the ice while continually growing as players and young adults.
