Rob Shearer has over 15 years of pro hockey experience. In his hockey career Rob played in over 450 professional games. Rob played in the OHL for the Windsor Spitfires for three seasons before signing with the Colorado Avalanche organization in the NHL. He played five seasons with the Hershey Bears and was part of the Calder Cup Championship Team in the 1996-1997 hockey season. In Europe, Rob has played at the professional level in Finland, Germany and Austria. In 2005, he won a DEL championship with the Berlin Eisbaeren.
Within the Capital City Vipers organization, Rob is in charge of the Viper program, and setting up and running most of the practices and clinics. He uses the USA Hockey ADM model for the Vipers program. Rob works hand and hand with all our coaches during the practice week and is on the ice supporting all of our teams. Rob organizes and runs numerous skills clinics for our players throughout the off season.
Freddy has 15 years of professional experience at the NHL, AHL and European Elite level. Freddy played in the NHL with the Atlanta Thrashers and Washington Capitals. He played in over 650 pro games, primarily in the American Hockey League, spending six full seasons with the Hershey Bears. During his career, Freddy racked up 232 career AHL wins, which is fifth all-time in the league. His twenty-four career AHL shutouts are tied for eighth all-time. In 2005-06, Freddy played sixty-one regular season games with the Bears—followed by twenty-one post-season contests, which ended with Hershey capturing the Calder Cup Championship. Freddy received the Jack A. Butterfield Trophy as the AHL playoff’s most valuable player. In 1995 Cassivi was the youngest AHL Hall of Famer at the time of his induction
Freddy was instrumental in starting up the Mite program for the Viper organization. Freddy currently coaches the Bantam team. He also coaches the Viper goalies during practices and runs goalie clinics during the off season.
Chief of Coaches
Andy is a USA Hockey certified Level 4 coach. He currently serves as the Vipers Chief of Coaches and as a Head Coach of multiple Vipers Travel teams. In addition, he founded Five Hole Hockey in 2006, has over a decade of player development and advancement experience and has also served as a camp instructor and guest speaker for The Goalie Academy for over a decade. Additionally, Andy spent 5 seasons scouting in the USHL before shifting his focus to youth hockey and today’s younger players. As a former goaltender, Andy's playing experience includes D-1 prep school hockey at Choate, junior hockey in the BCHL, AWHL, MNJHL, WSHL and a minor-pro stint with the Quad City Mallards.
Andy is a graduate of Montana State University and The Pennsylvania State University.
